TES Develops the US Army’s first FACE-Verified Software Product

Tucson Embedded Systems, on contract with the US Army’s AMRDEC-SED, developed, successfully verified, and assisted the integration of the Reusable Radio Control Component (R2C2), a FACE Platform-Specific Service (PSS) software component. This represents a significant milestone for the FACE Consortium and was announced to the Consortium on 3 August during the FACE face-to-face meeting in Grand Rapids Michigan.

R2C2 is a reusable, platform portable software component that will facilitate the integration of (legacy and next-generation) radio systems onto Army Aviation platforms. Demonstrated during previous FACE TIM events, the R2C2 was verified by the US Army’s FACE Verification Authority on 25 July 2016. In a parallel effort, Boeing-Philadelphia successfully integrated R2C2. R2C2 lifecycle documentation draws upon guidance from DoD-STD-2167 Defense System Software Development Best Manufacturing Practices, the Developer’s Handbook for Airworthy Reusable FACE Units of Conformance, and the FAA’s AC 20-148 Reuse Guidelines. This Government-owned FACE product will be added to the FACE Library.
